Fees

The O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory is operated on a cost reimbursable basis for all non-NSF users. Its facilities - including the Tsunami Research Facility - are used by faculty from Oregon State and other universities, plus state and federal agencies, commercial enterprises, consulting engineering firms, and private individuals. Fees are evaluated and adjusted on an annual basis.

Description: Project costs are based on full use of facility, equipment, and staff assistance. A minimum 10% or $375/day of estimated facility use is charged to each project based upon the effort of experiment design work with client prior to actual experiment occurring at the facility. A letter of intent will be submitted detailing the estimated cost of any project and specifying the design fee amount. Facility time will not be scheduled until the design fee is received.

Description The NEES Tsunami Research Facility at Oregon State University will recharge NEES researchers for specimen construction costs, above and beyond O&M costs not covered by the NEES. The specimen (or physical model) costs may include material and labor. Specimen costs typically involve materials, supplies, contractors, heavy equipment, concrete construction and demolition. These cost estimates and responsibilities are detailed in the Equipment Site Utilization Form (ESUF), and the Site User Agreement (SUA) form. The ESUF is signed by the PI, the site and NEES comm. The SUA is signed by OSU and the outside participating institution.
