OSU participated in National Engineers Week Family Day in Washington DC on Feb 19, 2011 for the third year in a row. The event was held at the National Building Museum.
In 2009 and 2010, our mini-wave flume was shipped to the event and NEES staff members and OSU undergraduate ambassadors staffed the event. Lego structures were built by participants, installed in the mini wave flume, and subjected to a mini tsunami wave.
This year, a second mini- wave flume was constructed and shipped to Howard as part of a permanent exhibit to be stationed in DC. OSU NEES staff provided support to the event by training a group of Howard University students to become the new local ambassadors to the event.
The event, designed to teach civil engineering concepts, typically serves between 4000 and 8000 people in one day. See the National Engineers Week website for more information as it becomes available.
